Anne of Green Gables Done

Another successful SKIT Theatre production is a wrap and they are on to the next one. Again I was honored to be able to participate through my graphic design help. As usual I am very impressed with how this local group pulls off these teen plays and musicals. They always surprise me by how good they are.

My beautiful daughter earned a role in the cast and had a great time singing and dancing. I guess you can see which one is her by the large arrow (can you tell I'm proud?).

Great Logo Book

I love good logo books. The ones that are curated well are like inspiration gold. When a designer looks at a large collection of the best designs by their peers it often raises the standard in that designers mind of what is considered good. In my case it is also very humbling because there are some amazing designers out there creating on a daily basis.

Before I got my copy of the latest logo book by Rockport I figured it would be good because for one thing they are the publishers of the LogoLounge books which are my favorites but also because this one called Design: Logo was curated by Von Glitschka and Paul Howalt. Both of them I trust because they are master logo designers themselves and because they have similar taste in logos as me.

I am honored to say that some of my work and some of the work of my fellow designers at my day job are among the designs that were picked for the book. The first ones I've included below are ones that I would show in my portfolio because I designed them completely or I feel good about my contribution to them. The set below that are ones that I either played a very small role in designing or had no significant part in but am proud that they have been included.

I've been very busy lately but I thought I'd take a minute or two to show a couple of pieces of a project I've been working on. Below is the main poster for the next SKIT Theatre production. I'm still waiting on the sponsors to be confirmed so I can add them to the bottom.

And here are some of the cast sporting the shirt I designed at the taping of a TV spot to air here locally.

Before and After 2

Recently a local high school water polo team asked the company I work for to put a logo they found on a shirt for them. The image was previously used by a water polo team in the U.K. so obviously we couldn't print it without permission. So, I took the basic idea of a water polo ball/shark character and drew my own. It was a fun idea and I think my version came out more professional than the original one they sent us. My hope is that they will adopt it as their mascot/logo and use it for years to come.
